Regular Season Round 3: Alba Chorzow - GTK Gliwice 72-79

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked GTK Gliwice (2-1) won against on the road bottom-ranked Alba Chorzow (0-3) 79-72 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Alba Chorzow won third quarter 22-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alba Chorzow was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Tomasz Wrobel (180-85) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Forward Emil Podkowinski (192-88) chipped in 21 points. Four GTK Gliwice players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Adam Spychala (197-84) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and guard Lukasz Wojcik (189-84) added 21 points and 4 steals respectively. GTK Gliwice moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with WKK Wroclaw and AZS AWF K-ce. Loser Alba Chorzow still closes the standings with three games lost. GTK Gliwice will face league's second-placed HK Zory at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alba Chorzow will play against Nysa Klodzko (#11) in Kloszko and hopes to get finally their first victory.
