There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Boulazac Basket (1-2) defeated at home higher ranked Poitiers (1-2) 73-67 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. Boulazac Basket forced 22 Poitiers turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Osiris Eldridge (191-88, college: Illinois St.) who scored 27 points. His fellow American import power forward Darryl Monroe (202-86, college: George Mason, agency: SportsTalent) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Boulazac Basket's coach Sylvain Lautie used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Italian guard Anthony Dobbins (194-81, college: Richmond) who recorded 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Anthony Smith (196-86, college: Liberty) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Poitiers players scored in double figures. Boulazac Basket left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Poitiers. Boulazac Basket will face Sluc Nancy (#10) on the road in the next round.
