LNBP top team - Halcones UV Xalapa (14-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Lechugueros (5-10) 122-100. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones UV Xalapa. Lechugueros managed to win third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones UV Xalapa shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a great evening for American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. International guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (185-86, college: W.Kentucky) helped adding 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) with 28 points and 8 rebounds and American forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Halcones UV Xalapa and four Lechugueros players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record. Lechugueros lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa are looking forward to face Halcones Rojos (#3) in Veracruz in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Lechugueros will play on the road against Abejas (#7) in Guanajuato and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
