Regular Season Round 3: Marghera - San Martino 67-69

A very interesting game took place in Venezia. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Marghera (1-2) to leader San Martino (3-0) 69-67 on Saturday evening. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 22-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. San Martino forced 21 Marghera turnovers. The best player for the winners was Slovenian forward Lea Jagodic (182-91) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Maria Sbrissa (187-86, college: NYIT) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. San Martino's coach Gianluca Abignente allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Alice Romagnoli (190-84) who recorded 10 points and 6 rebounds and guard Marta Savelli (175-82) added 16 points respectively. San Martino have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of North leader, which they share with Umana Reyer. Marghera at the other side dropped to the eighth place with two games lost. San Martino's next round opponent will be Biassono (#12) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Marghera will play against Muggia (#5).
