Regular Season Round 1: MIA Academy - Batumi 92-65
Date: October 20, 2012
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Batumi (0-1) against leader MIA (1-0) on Saturday night. Visiting Batumi was crushed by MIA in Tbilisi 92-65. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by MIA. Batumi was better in fourth quarter 29-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Batumi's 16 and had 23 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Batumi only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Batumi 54-28 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. MIA players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Batumi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Zviad Antadze (198-88, college: Monroe Coll.) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Chad Prewitt (206-80, college: Arizona St., agency: Priority Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Nika Ramishvili (179-94) answered with 18 points and the former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Batumi. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. MIA keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Batumi at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. MIA's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Sokhumi.
