Regular Season Round 5: Lyon - Villeneuve 89-75

Very expected game when 13th ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (1-4) lost on the road to fourth ranked Lyon (3-2) 89-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lyon. Villeneuve D'Ascq was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lyon dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Villeneuve D'Ascq's 34. Lyon forced 20 Villeneuve D'Ascq turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Villeneuve D'Ascq's players. American swingman Lenae Williams (182-79, college: De Paul, agency: Josep and Nicolas) answered with 20 points and point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Villeneuve D'Ascq. Lyon maintains fourth place with 3-2 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Villeneuve D'Ascq dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. Lyon will face league's second-placed Bourges at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against Basket Landes (#4) in Mont de Marsan.
