Regular Season Round 9: Niigata - Aishin AW 80-77

Bottom-ranked Aishin Wings (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 80-77 loss to ninth ranked Niigata (2-5) in Tokyo on Saturday evening. Aishin Wings cut a 15-point first quarter deficit to three at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was forward Inoue Ai (172-90) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Seiko Kawakami (165-88) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Yuka Maeda (173-84) who recorded 27 points and 5 assists and power forward Shiyu Sato (178-87) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Aishin Wings' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Niigata maintains ninth place with 2-5 record. Aishin Wings at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Yamanashi QB. Niigata are again looking forward to face Aishin Wings (#11) in Anjo in the next round. Aishin Wings will have a break next round.
