Regular Season Round 3: Hawks - Crocodiles 84-66

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Wollongong Hawks as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Wollongong Hawks defeated bottom-ranked Townsville Crocodiles in Gwynneville 84-66. The game without a history. Wollongong Hawks led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Townsville Crocodiles' 20. They outrebounded Townsville Crocodiles 47-30 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Oscar Forman (205-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds. Dominican guard Adris Deleon (180-84, college: E.Washington) helped adding 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was international forward Todd Blanchfield (200-91) with 14 points and 8 rebounds and the former international swingman Peter Crawford (193-79) scored 18 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wollongong Hawks have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Wildcats. Townsville Crocodiles at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Townsville Crocodiles will play next round against Kings trying to get back on the winning streak. Wollongong Hawks will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Adelaide 36ers in Findon.
