Regular Season Round 8: Tromso - Gimle BBK 93-84

An exciting game was played in Tromso. Third ranked Tromso faced second-ranked Gimle BBK. Host Tromso (5-1) defeated guests from Bergen (5-3) 93-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gimle BBK. It looked good early as Gimle BBK took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tromso had a 24-13 second period charge getting the lead and Gimle BBK was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 84-93. It was a great shooting night for Tromso especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. Gimle BBK was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Jonathan Jones (196-88, college: Kean) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import guard Gary Wallace (187-88, college: Robert Morris, agency: TSS Management) contributed with 24 points and 6 assists for the winners. Tromso's coach Kenneth Webb allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Delano Thomas (203-81, college: Shawnee St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 blocks and guard Anders Stien (195-90) added 20 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gimle BBK. Tromso have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Gimle BBK at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Tromso will play against bottom-ranked Asker Aliens (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Gimle BBK will play against the league's leader Centrum (#1) in Oslo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
