Regular Season Round 3: Aishin SH - Toshiba BT 89-74

Round 3 in JBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kariya where host Aishin Sea Horses (4-2) beat league's leader Toshiba Thunders (5-1) 89-74 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Toshiba Thunders managed to win third quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Sea Horses made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Shinsuke Kashiwagi (183-81) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. American center Ryvon Covile (206-84, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Five Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) who recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses moved-up to third place, which they share with Panasonic T. Toshiba Thunders at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Toyota Alvark. Toshiba Thunders will play next round against strong Panasonic Trians trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Aishin Sea Horses will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Toyota Alvark in Fuchu.
