Regular Season Round 2: Maccabi Rishon - Hapoel Eilat 101-90

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Maccabi Rishon as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Maccabi Rishon defeated second-ranked Hapoel Eilat in Rishon Le-Zion 101-90. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Eilat managed to win third quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hapoel Eilat 39-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi Rishon especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (200-84, college: Hofstra, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international Nitzan Hanochi (194-86, agency: Ronsport) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Maccabi Rishon's coach Effi Birnbaum used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) responded with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import forward Jerome Tillman (198-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) scored 25 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Maccabi T-A and Netanya. Newly promoted Hapoel Eilat dropped to the sixth place with one game lost. They share the position with Hapoel T-A and Bnei Hasharon. Hapoel Eilat will play next round against Maccabi Haifa trying to get back on the winning streak. Maccabi Rishon will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv.
