Regular Season Round 3: Dandenong R. - West Coast 103-71

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Dandenong Rangers (2-1) crushed at home 7th ranked West Coast Waves (1-3) 103-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Dandenong Rangers. West Coast Waves was better in third quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dandenong Rangers dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to West Coast Waves' 52. Dandenong Rangers forced 20 West Coast Waves turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by West Coast Waves' players. It was a good game for the former international Jenna O'Hea (185-87) who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. International Kathleen Macleod (167-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four Dandenong Rangers players scored in double figures. The former international guard Deanna Smith (179-80) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds and New Zealand forward Antonia Edmondson (181-87) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for West Coast Waves. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Townsville F. Loser West Coast Waves keep the seventh position with three games lost. Dandenong Rangers will face league's leader Bendigo Spirit on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. West Coast Waves will play against the league's second-placed Adelaide Lightning (#2).
