Regular Season Round 10: Chanson V-M - JX Sunflowers 60-62

The most exciting game of round 10 in the WJBL took place in Shizuoka. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Chanson V-M (6-2) to top-ranked JX Sunflowers (8-0) 62-60 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 62-60. JX Sunflowers dominated on the defensive end, holding Chanson V-M to just 6 points in second quarter. They made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when JX Sunflowers made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws). The former international power forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. International swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) replied with 11 points and 8 rebounds and guard Minaho Miyoshi (167-93) added 14 points in the effort for Chanson V-M. JX Sunflowers have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Chanson V-M at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. JX Sunflowers is looking forward to face Denso Iris (#6) in Kariya in the next round where they are favorite. Chanson V-M will play again on the road against the league's second-placed JX Sunflowers in Kashiwa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
