There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Leeuwarden (2-2) crushed at home 4th placed Den Helder K. (2-2) 99-60 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Leeuwarden. Den Helder K. was better in second period 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Den Helder K. to just 6 points in third quarter. Leeuwarden forced 22 Den Helder K. turnovers and had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. Leeuwarden looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Den Helder K.'s players. It was a good game for American forward Jerrell Williams (203-88, college: La Salle) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Valentijn Lietmeijer (191-91) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Five Leeuwarden players scored in double figures. American forward Storm Warren (200-88, college: LSU) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and international center Jeroen van der List (213-89, college: Indian Hills CC, agency: Court Side) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Den Helder K.Den Helder K.'s coach Jean-Marc Jaumin gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Leeuwarden moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Den Helder K. Leeuwarden will face Zwolle (#7) on the road in the next round.
