There was no surprise in Tampico where 11th ranked Correcaminos (7-9) were defeated by ninth ranked Huracanes (8-6) 104-94 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Huracanes. Correcaminos was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Huracanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) fired 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international center Rodrigo Zamora (206-86, college: Montana St.) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: Dream Team Management) produced 30 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) added 21 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Huracanes maintains ninth position with 8-6 record. Correcaminos at the other side keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. Huracanes will face higher ranked Panteras (#5) in Aguascalientes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Correcaminos will play on the road against Barreteros (#8) in Zacatecas.
