Regular Season Round 16: Osos - Gigantes 79-81

There was a minor upset when 14th ranked Osos (2-14) were edged at home by sixteenth ranked Gigantes (2-14) 81-79 on Tuesday. Osos trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 27-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-81 at the end of the game. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Sam Liggins (178, college: Alders.-Broad.) fired 23 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward John Ruffus (207-81, college: Fayetteville St.) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Ruffus is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Keith Gayden (202-83, college: Duquesne) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gigantes moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with defeated Osos. Osos lost sixth consecutive game. Gigantes will face higher ranked Fuerza Regia (#10) in Monterrey in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Osos will play on the road against the league's second-placed Toros (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
