LNBP top team - Halcones UV Xalapa (16-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat twelfth ranked Lechugueros (5-12) in Leon 94-88. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Halcones UV Xalapa made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Halcones UV Xalapa players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86) stepped up and scored 16 points and 9 assists for the winners and American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds and American forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) scored 7 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Lechugueros' coach Harold Arceneaux rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-1 record. Lechugueros lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against Abejas (#7) in Guanajuato in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lechugueros will play at home against Halcones Rojos (#4) in Veracruz and hope to get back on the winning track.
