Regular Season Round 4: Groningen - Leiden 69-67

Important game to mention about took place in Groningen. Second ranked Groningen (4-1) saved a 2-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Leiden (4-1) 69-67 in the fight for the second place. Leiden was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Groningen made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Groningen outrebounded Leiden 41-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) who scored that evening 13 points and 8 rebounds and Surinamese forward Sergio de Randamie (201-84, college: Houston, agency: R.H.Consultancy) supported him with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. Even 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by American guard Tony Gallo (180-89, college: Coppin St.) did not help to save the game for Leiden. Naturalized Moroccan forward Mohamed Kherrazi (200-90, agency: R.H.Consultancy) added 12 points for lost side. Groningen have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Den Bosch, which they share with defeated Leiden. Groningen will play against Den Helder K. (#6) on the road in the next round. Leiden will play against Weert (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
