We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when seventh ranked Union Progresista (4-7) beat 6th ranked Atenas (5-8) in Villa Angela 74-69 on Friday. Atenas was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 23-16 charge of Union Progresista, which allowed them to win the game. Union Progresista outrebounded Atenas 39-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 19 rebounds. American forward Adrian Moss (203-81, college: Florida) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Bruno Labaque (180-77, agency: Interperformances) answered with 12 points and 5 assists and the former international center Diego Guaita (202-83) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Atenas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Union Progresista maintains seventh place in North with 4-7 record. Loser Atenas keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Union Progresista will face league's second-placed Olimpico de La Banda at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
