Olympiakos has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Asteras (1-3) 68-62 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-62. Olympiakos dominated on the defensive end, holding Asteras to just 7 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Niki Zerva (183-79) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and guard Rafaela Soultani (172-91) who added 12 points and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side center Katerina Glyniadaki (196-86, college: Cal-Riverside) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Katerina Deli (168, college: Scranton) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Asteras' coach Harris Koulouriotis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Olympiakos left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Asteras and Ikaros Kalitheas. Olympiakos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panathinaikos.
