Regular Season Round 6: Spojnia - MKS DG 57-65

1Liga top team - MKS DG (5-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eleventh ranked Spojnia (2-4) in Stargard 65-57. It looked good early as Spojnia took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then MKS DG took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 8 points. Point guard Grzegorz Grochowski (178-93) notched 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and forward Michal Woloszyn (202-84) supported him with 18 points. MKS DG's coach Wojciech Wieczorek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 9 points and 11 rebounds by the former international center Wiktor Grudzinski (208-78) did not help to save the game for Spojnia. Guard Tomasz Stepien (193-86) added 14 points and 5 rebounds. MKS DG maintains first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Slask Wroclaw and P.Cukier SIDEn. Spojnia lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with four games lost. They share the position with UMKS Kielce and AZS Radex. MKS DG will play against Astoria Bydg. (#14) in Bydgoszcz in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Spojnia will play at home against Znicz Basket in Pruszkow and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
