The most exciting game of round 4 in the WNBL took place in Bendigo. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Dandenong Rangers (3-2) to top-ranked Bendigo Spirit (6-0) 82-80 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dandenong Rangers. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 26-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Gabrielle Richards (191-84, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Kelly Wilson (170-84) who added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side international Kathleen Macleod (167-86) responded with 21 points and 7 assists and forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bendigo Spirit have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Defending champion Dandenong Rangers keep the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Canberra C.. Bendigo Spirit will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dandenong Rangers will play on the road against Townsville Fire and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
