Rather expected game when 8th ranked Tochigi Brex (1-7) lost at home to fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (4-4) 85-78 on Saturday. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. International guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) replied with 20 points and guard Ryuzo Anzai (178-80) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 4-4 record. Tochigi Brex lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Hokkaido L. (#7) in Saporro in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play on the road against Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya.
