Very predictable result when third ranked Leiden (4-1) smashed on the road 8th ranked Rotterdam (1-4) 86-49 on Saturday. Leiden shot 24 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Rotterdam only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Rotterdam 46-30 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rotterdam was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international Worthy de Jong (194-88, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and Canadian forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) who added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Leiden players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Anthony Miles (182-89, college: Lamar) responded with 19 points and 6 assists and his fellow American import power forward Cameron Echols (203-81, college: Ball St., agency: R.H.Consultancy) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Leiden moved-up to second place, which they share with Groningen. Rotterdam lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. Leiden will face Weert (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rotterdam will play against Zwolle.
