No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Joensuun Kataja (4-3) defeated on the road 10th ranked Salon Vilpas (1-5) 76-66. The game without a history. Joensuun Kataja led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The game was dominated by American players. It was a very good performance for point guard Johnell Smith (180-80, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Jerald Fields (201-82, college: E.Tenn.St.) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Forward Troy Barnies (200-89, college: Maine) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Marquis Hall (183-87, college: Lehigh) added 20 points in the effort for Salon Vilpas. Joensuun Kataja moved-up to sixth place, which they share with KTP. Salon Vilpas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Joensuun Kataja will play against Forssan Koripojat (#10) at home in the next round. Salon Vilpas will play against the league's second-placed Kauhajoen Karhu in Kauhajoki to get more than just one victory in their record.
