Regular Season Round 3: Irakleio - Lavrio 71-78

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Irakleio (1-2) was defeated at home by leader Lavrio (3-0) 78-71 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Irakleio won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lavrio made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Irakleio turnovers. It was a great evening for swingman Dionysios Giannakopoulos (195-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Guard Christos Liberopoulos (185-88) helped adding 12 points. The best for the losing side was point guard Giannis Stefanakis (185-80) with 21 points and 4 assists and guard Marios Sakellarakis (195-88, agency: FCM) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Lavrio have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Irakleio dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams.
