Regular Season Round 6: St Chamond - Rueil 90-87

A very interesting game took place in Saint Chamond. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Rueil (1-4) to eighth ranked Saint Chamond (3-2) 90-87 on Saturday evening. Rueil was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 15-11 charge of Saint Chamond, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Saint Chamond outrebounded Rueil 46-20 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Benjamin Rey (210-79) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Latvian swingman Ingus Bankevics (195-85, agency: Players Group) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Saint Chamond's coach Alain Thinet allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (178-87) who recorded 16 points and 9 assists and Alexis Desespringalle (192-91) added 14 points and 7 assists respectively. Four Saint Chamond and five Rueil players scored in double figures. Saint Chamond moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Angers BC 49. Rueil lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Saint Chamond's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Cognac on the road and it may be quite challenging game.
