The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Maquinaria Ensino as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A. Maquinaria Ensino smashed bottom-ranked Arxil Pontevedra in Lugo 71-43. The game without a history. Maquinaria Ensino led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Maquinaria Ensino forced 23 Arxil Pontevedra turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Yaiza Garcia (190-88, agency: Regeneracom Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 8 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Russian center Olga Fedorova (189-78) replied with 7 points and 14 rebounds and Canadian center Zara Huntley (188-89) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Arxil Pontevedra. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Ferrol. Arxil Pontevedra at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with ADBA and Ourense P.. Arxil Pontevedra will play next round against ADBA trying to get back on the winning streak. Maquinaria Ensino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
