Regular Season Round 6: Racing - Etzella 56-117

Undefeated leader Etzella delivered the fifth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Racing (0-4) 117-56 in Luxembourg. The game was mostly controlled by Etzella. Racing managed to win fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Racing to just 7 points in first quarter. Etzella dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Racing's 36. Etzella forced 30 Racing turnovers and outrebounded them 55-36 including a 30-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Racing's players. American forward Jessilyn Conicelli (177-89, college: Biola, CA) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian guard Katie Donovan (178-82) chipped in 22 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Five Etzella players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Celeste Stevenson (180-82, college: W.Texas A&M) with 20 points and 9 rebounds and guard Michelle Klepper (173-94) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Etzella (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Loser Racing still closes the standings with four games lost. Etzella will meet Sparta (#5) in the next round. Racing will play against AB Contern and hopes to get finally their first victory.
