Important game to mention about took place in Canberra. Sixth ranked Canberra Capitals (3-2) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Logan Thunder (2-3) 71-68 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Logan Thunder took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Canberra Capitals had a 20-16 second period charge getting the lead and Logan Thunder was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-71. The winners were led by forward Brigitte Ardossi (188-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Nicole Hunt (167-88) supported her with 20 points. Four Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. Canberra Capitals' coach Carrie Graf allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) by forward Emma Langford (188-89, college: Wyoming) did not help to save the game for Logan Thunder. The former international guard Kristen Veal (176-81) added 8 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Canberra Capitals moved-up to third place, which they share with Dandenong R. Logan Thunder at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Townsville F. and Bulleen B.. Canberra Capitals will play against bottom-ranked Sydney Uni Flames (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Logan Thunder will play against Dandenong Rangers (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
