Regular Season Round 18: Pioneros - Guerreros 123-87

No shocking result in a game in Cancun where sixth ranked Pioneros (11-7) outleveled 13th ranked Guerreros (4-14) 123-87. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 63.0 percent from the field. Pioneros forced 20 Guerreros turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Pioneros players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech) notched 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Stephen Soriano (201-84, college: Colorado Mesa) supported him with 21 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by American-Puerto Rican power forward Angel Alamo (206-85) did not help to save the game for Guerreros. American point guard Michael Hunter (178, college: Cal-Irvine) added 19 points. Five Pioneros and four Guerreros players scored in double figures. Pioneros moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Panteras. Guerreros lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Pioneros will play against bottom-ranked Osos (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Guerreros will play against Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and hope to get back on the winning track.
