Regular Season Round 4: Milano - Cagliari V. 74-48
Date: October 28, 2012
Very predictable result when fourth ranked Milano (3-1) smashed at home bottom-ranked Virtus Cagliari (0-4) 74-48 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Virtus Cagliari was better in third quarter 14-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Milano dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Virtus Cagliari's 24. Milano forced 33 Virtus Cagliari turnovers and outrebounded them 31-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Manuela Zanon (187-80) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and guard Michela Frantini (175-83) who added 15 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Milano players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Raffaella Costa (185-84) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Marta Vargiu (168-88) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Milano moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Alghero. Loser Virtus Cagliari still closes the standings with four games lost. Milano will face Udine (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Virtus Cagliari will play against San Salvatore (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
