Regular Season Round 14: La Union - Atenas 69-70

Date: October 28, 2012
Important game to mention about took place in Formosa. Sixth ranked Atenas (6-8) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked La Union (2-12) 70-69 on Sunday evening. It looked good early as La Union took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Atenas had a 18-11 second period charge getting the lead and La Union was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-70. Strangely La Union outrebounded Atenas 33-19 including 23 on the defensive glass. The former international swingman Matias Lescano (196-79) notched 15 points to lead the effort and the former international point guard Bruno Labaque (180-77, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 17 points. Four Atenas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Gregory Lewis (200-78, college: Winthrop, agency: Dream Team Management) did not help to save the game for La Union. His fellow American import guard Kyle Lamonte (191-84, college: William Carey) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. La Union's coach Carlos Romano rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Atenas maintains sixth position in North with 6-8 record. La Union at the other side keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost.
