Regular Season Round 4: Palencia - Forca Lleida 67-61

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Palencia Baloncesto (3-1) beat at home 10th ranked Lleida Basquet (1-3) 67-61. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But Lleida Basquet won second period 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Palencia Baloncesto forced 21 Lleida Basquet turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Lleida Basquet helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Jamaican forward Geoff McDermott (203-87, college: Providence, agency: Interperformances) fired 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Alex Thompson (208-85, college: Iowa St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and forward Sergi Pino (196-87) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to third place, which they share with Breogan and FCB Regal II. Lleida Basquet at the other side keeps the tenth position with three games lost. Palencia Baloncesto's next round opponent will be Caceres Basket (#12) at home and are hoping to win another game. Lleida Basquet will play against Leche Rio Breogan in Lugo.
