Very important is a road loss of third ranked Shimane Magic (4-2) against fourth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (5-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Shimane Magic was defeated by Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa 85-70. The hosts were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 29-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Hamamatsu Phoenix forced 25 Shimane Magic turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern, agency: Top Notch Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists. The former international center Atsuya Ohta (206-84) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Ryuji Kawai allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Jeral Davis (216-84) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 7 blocks and the other American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) added 13 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Shimane Magic. Hamamatsu Phoenix moved-up to third place, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Shimane Magic at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will play against Miyazaki Shining Suns (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Shimane Magic will play against Kyoto Hannar. (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
