Regular Season Round 7: Niigata Albirex - Yokohama BC 68-65

The most exciting game of round 7 in the BJ League took place in Niigata. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Yokohama BC (2-2) to sixth ranked Niigata Albirex (3-3) 68-65 in the game for the fifth place. Niigata Albirex outrebounded Yokohama BC 47-27 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kimitake Sato (184-84) fired 17 points for the winners. American center Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont, agency: Top Notch Sports) chipped in 6 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Global Sports Plaza) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul, agency: Top Notch Sports) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Niigata Albirex have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fukuoka Rizing and Shiga L-Stars. Yokohama BC at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Takamatsu FA. Niigata Albirex is looking forward to face league's second-placed Shinshu BW in Nagano in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yokohama BC will play on the road against Gunma (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
