There was no surprise when 8th ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (1-5) were defeated at home by second ranked Oita Heat Devils (5-1) 94-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Oita Heat Devils. Miyazaki Shining Suns was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Miyazaki Shining Suns 48-29 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa, agency: Edge Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV, agency: Top Notch Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Larriques Cunningham (198-88, college: Lee) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Dominique Keller (203-88, college: Illinois) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oita Heat Devils maintains second place with 5-1 record having five points less than leader Okinawa GK, which they share with Shinshu BW. Miyazaki Shining Suns lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face Shiga L-Stars (#6) on the road in the next round. Miyazaki Shining Suns will play against Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa.
