Regular Season Round 3: Maccabi Ashdod - Bnei Hasharon 74-88

Date: October 29, 2012
Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (0-3) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Bnei Hasharon (2-1) 88-74. The game was mostly controlled by Bnei Hasharon. Maccabi Ashdod was better in second period 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Jumaine Jones (203-79, college: Georgia) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Bnei Hasharon's coach Ariel Beit-Halamy allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Dror Hagag (178-78, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Maccabi Ashdod. Five Bnei Hasharon and four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Bnei Hasharon's next round opponent will be Hapoel Holon (#8) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel J-M (#11) in Jerusalem and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
