Not a big story in a game in Jiyuan where bottom-ranked Beijing Great Wall (0-2) was defeated by top-ranked Henan Elephants (2-0) 77-69 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Beijing Great Wall won fourth quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jayne Appel (193-88, college: Stanford) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 18 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). Forward Di Wu (186-90) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Four Henan Elephants players scored in double figures. American forward Sophia Young (186-83, college: Baylor) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and South Korean guard Yeong-Ok Kim (170-74) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Henan Elephants keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Beijing Great Wall still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Henan Elephants will meet bottom-ranked Qujing Yunnan (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Beijing Great Wall will play against Shenyang Golden Lions in Dandong.
