Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Joensuun Kataja (5-3) rolled over at home 10th ranked Forssan Koripojat (2-5) 101-72. The game without a history. Joensuun Kataja led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Joensuun Kataja made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Joensuun Kataja shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Forssan Koripojat was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Johnell Smith (180-80, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 assists and the other American import swingman Jonte Flowers (196-85, college: Winona St., agency: Warren Sports International) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and guard Sami Ikavalko (188-89) scored 18 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Joensuun Kataja have a solid three-game winning streak. Joensuun Kataja moved-up to fourth place, which they share with KTP. Forssan Koripojat lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted Forssan Koripojat dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Lapua. Joensuun Kataja will play against LrNMKY (#7) in Lappeenranta in the next round. Forssan Koripojat will play at home against the league's second-placed Kauhajoen Karhu in Kauhajoki and hopes to get back on the winning track.
