Regular Season Round 8: Kauhajoki - Salon Vilpas 84-63
Date: October 31, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Salon Vilpas (1-6) was outscored by second ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (5-2) in Kauhajoki 84-63. The game without a history. Kauhajoen Karhu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Tremaine Ford (206-86, college: CS Northridge) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and point guard Ilkka Vuori (181-86) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Kauhajoen Karhu's coach Ari Tammivaara felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Troy Barnies (200-89, college: Maine) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Shawn Atupem (200-89, college: Mt.St.Mary's) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Kauhajoen Karhu maintains second position with 5-2 record having just three points less than leader Pyrinto, which they share with Nilan Bisons. Salon Vilpas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with six games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against Forssan Koripojat (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Salon Vilpas will play against Kouvot in Kouvola to get more than just one victory in their record.
