There was no surprise when 11th ranked Biassono (1-4) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Muggia (3-2) 57-44 on Thursday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Muggia dominated on the defensive end, holding Biassono to just 5 points in third quarter. They also forced 22 Biassono turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (182-88) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Annalisa Borroni (183-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Marina Fumagalli (175-93) produced 10 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Sara Canova (174-89) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Biassono's coach Stefano Fassina rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Muggia moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with 3 other teams. Biassono at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Muggia will face San Salvatore (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Biassono will play against the league's second-placed Umana Reyer in Venezia.
