Very predictable result when third ranked Soles (15-4) beat on the road 15th ranked Gigantes (2-17) 89-76 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Soles. Gigantes was better in fourth quarter 31-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Gigantes' 42. Soles forced 21 Gigantes turnovers. American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington, agency: SportsTalent) fired 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward John Ruffus (207-81, college: Fayetteville St.) produced 31 points and forward Zackery Alvidrez (202) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourteenth consecutive win for Soles. They maintain third place with 15-4 record having just three points less than leader Halc.Xalapa. Gigantes lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Soles will face bottom-ranked Osos (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gigantes will play against Pioneros in Cancun.
