Very expected game when 16th ranked Osos (2-17) were defeated at home by sixth ranked Pioneros (12-7) 96-81 on Thursday. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Pioneros forced 19 Osos turnovers and outrebounded them 35-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. The former international forward Stephen Soriano (201-84, college: Colorado Mesa) fired 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Mike Williams (201-85, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Nick Stallings (190-83, college: Centenary) produced 18 points and the other American import swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Osos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Pioneros. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Panteras. Osos lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Pioneros will face Gigantes (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Osos will play against Soles in Mexicali.
