Regular Season Round 7: Matera - Recanati 74-59

Date: November 1, 2012
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Matera (6-1) defeated at home 13th ranked Recanati (2-4) 74-59 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Matera. Recanati was better in second period 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Matera forced 19 Recanati turnovers. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Argentinian guard Carlos Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Matera's coach Giovanni Benedetto used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Gianni Cantagalli (196-88, agency: Players Group) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Marco Gnaccarini (185-81) added 13 points respectively for lost side. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Matera. They maintain second place with 6-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Treviglio. Loser Recanati dropped to the fourteenth position with four games lost. Matera will face Chieti (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Recanati will play against Mazzeo San Severo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
