Regular Season Round 19: Panteras - Abejas 93-91

The most exciting game of round 19 in the LNBP took place in Aguascalientes. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Abejas (10-9) to fifth ranked Panteras (12-7) 93-91 on Thursday evening. Abejas were trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 26-22 charge of Panteras, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Abejas' 50 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Nate Miller (193-87, college: Bowling Green, agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in 25 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. American forward Eugene Phelps (198, college: Long Beach St.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195, college: W.Kentucky) added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Panteras have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 12-7 record, which they share with Pioneros. Abejas at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Barreteros. Panteras is looking forward to face Lechugueros (#12) in Leon in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Abejas will play on the road against Barreteros (#9) in Zacatecas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
