We should mention about the upset which took place in Zacatecas, where higher ranked Barreteros (10-9) lost at home to twelfth ranked Lechugueros (6-13) 78-87. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Barreteros won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lechugueros made 28-of-37 charity shots (75.7 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Barreteros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for Trinidad and Tobago-American point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 4 assists. Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks and the other American import guard Lamont Sumpter (183-86, college: McMurry) added 23 points and 5 assists respectively for Barreteros in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barreteros' coach Andres Contreras rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lechugueros maintains twelfth place with 6-13 record. Barreteros at the other side keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Lechugueros' next round opponent will be higher ranked Panteras (#5) in Aguascalientes and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
