Top ranked Penarol (11-3) recorded its third loss in Mar del Plata on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Quimsa (8-7) 76-71. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Penarol. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 25-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The former international forward Sebastian Vega (200-88) fired 18 points and 5 steals for the winners. American center James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie, agency: Dream Team Management) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. International power forward Leonardo Gutierrez (201-78) produced 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard David Teague (196-83, college: Purdue) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Quimsa have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 8-7 record. Defending champion Penarol still keeps top position with three games lost. Quimsa are looking forward to face Wuber-Est.Bahia (#8) in Bahia Blanca in the next round. Penarol will play at home against Libertad Sunchales (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
