Regular Season Round 1: Lethbridge - Winnipeg 84-81

Date: November 2, 2012
A very interesting game took place in Lethbridge, AB. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of bottom-ranked Wesmen (0-1) to leader Pronghorn (1-0) 84-81 on Friday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-20 Wesmen's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 84-81 at the end of the game. Center Derek Waldner (201) nailed a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and guard Morgan Duce (180) accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Nolan Gooding (183) came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Travis Krahn (183) added 18 points respectively for Wesmen in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Pronghorn keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 6 other teams. Wesmen at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Pronghorn's next round opponent will be again Wesmen (#8) in Winnipeg, MB and are hoping to win another game.
