No shocking result in a game in Villa Angela where sixth ranked Argentino (9-6) defeated 14th ranked Union Progresista (4-9) 75-66 on Friday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Argentino made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. The former international center Axel Weigand (200-85) fired 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Fernando Funes (192-83) chipped in 19 points. British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Victor Hugo Cajal (179-80, agency: Dream Team Management) added 3 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Argentino maintains sixth place with 9-6 record. Union Progresista at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Argentino will face bottom-ranked La Union (#16) in Formosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Union Progresista will play at home against 9 de Julio in Rio Tercero and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
